NASCIO Presents 7th Annual National Technology Champion Award
The Honorable Thomas R. Carper, Senior Senator for the State of Delaware, was named NASCIO's 2009 National Technology Champion. This award honors Senator Carper's outstanding contributions to promote sound public sector information technology policy. NASCIO presents this award on an annual basis to acknowledge pioneers who promote excellence in both technology and good government.
In his role as chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Federal Financial Management Subcommittee, Senator Carper has been a strong advocate for critical infrastructure protection and cyber security. He has been instrumental in bringing NASCIO's voice to Congress, inviting the association to testify on important topics including IT performance and project management. NASCIO commends Senator Carper for elevating the dialog on IT issues, publicly recognizing cyber as a critical national security issue and urging more attention in order to fully protect our nation from emerging cyber threats.
